Questions? We’ve got answers.
Everything you need to know about finding the right GrabTech handle, fitting it to your 4WD and controlling your accessories. Clear answers, so you can spend less time figuring things out and more time on the tracks.
Vehicle compatibility
Check whether a handle suits your 4WD and how it fits.
Do you make a GrabTech handle for my 4WD?
We offer vehicle-specific handles for a growing range of 4WDs. Visit our Shop page to check your make, model and year before ordering. If you’re unsure about fitment, send us an enquiry with your vehicle details.
Do I need to drill any holes?
The handle is designed to use the vehicle’s existing grab-handle mounting points, so you generally won’t need to drill holes to mount the handle. The separate control box can be fitted under the bonnet in a suitable location. Check the installation requirements for your particular vehicle.
Installation & charging
What is wireless, what still needs wiring and how to charge it.
How is the GrabTech handle wired up?
The handle communicates wirelessly with a separate control box, so you don’t need to run switch wires from the handle through your dashboard and firewall. Your lights, compressor and other accessories still need to be wired to the control box. The handle has a rechargeable battery and charges via USB-C.
Does it require professional installation?
GrabTech is designed to be suitable for DIY installation for someone confident working with 4WD accessories and electrical connections. If you’re unfamiliar with vehicle electrical wiring, we recommend having an auto electrician or qualified installer handle the accessory wiring.
How often do I need to charge the handle?
The handle uses a rechargeable battery with a supplied USB-C cable. Our existing guidance suggests charging roughly every few months, with a charge taking around 30 minutes; actual charging frequency depends on use.
Controls & performance
Channels, accessories, wireless performance and customisation.
How many accessories can it control?
Most GrabTech handles offer six accessory-control channels, while some models have four. Check the individual product listing for the number of switches on the handle made for your vehicle.
What accessories can I connect?
Depending on your setup and the control box’s electrical limits, GrabTech can be used for accessories such as driving lights, light bars, work lights, camp lights, air compressors and other suitable 4WD equipment. Always check the electrical requirements of each accessory before connection.
What is the wireless range?
Current product specifications list a wireless range of up to 20 metres. Actual range can vary depending on where the control box is mounted, the vehicle and surrounding conditions.
Will other wireless devices interfere with it?
Other wireless equipment has generally not caused issues in our experience. As with any wireless accessory, performance may vary depending on mounting location, signal obstructions and the surrounding environment.
Is there any noticeable delay?
The switches are designed to activate connected accessories promptly when pressed, without a noticeable delay during normal operation.
Can the buttons be customised?
Yes. GrabTech handles come with a set of switch-icon stickers, so you can label the controls to match your 4WD setup.
